What is PicoSure Laser?
The PicoSure laser operates by emitting ultrashort laser pulses in picoseconds. This laser system utilizes a 755 nm wavelength Alexandrite laser and harnesses the power of picosecond laser technology to address hyperpigmentation, acne scars, and tattoos.
How does it work?
PicoSure employs a 755 nm Picosecond Alexandrite laser. Its low heat output, combined with the swift pulsing of the laser, generates a powerful photomechanical effect, enabling the delivery of more laser shots to the dermal layer to stimulate collagen and elastin production with increased precision. This occurs with minimal effect on adjacent skin tissues, leading to a shorter recovery period.
When combined with its patented proprietary Focus Lens Array, which utilises a diffractive lens for skin rejuvenation, it helps to enhance outcomes related to pigmentation, skin texture, and acne scars. This enhancement is achieved by concentrating energy into multiple minuscule points. The heightened energy then generates micro-injuries within the epidermis to promote the development of new collagen and elastin.
How many treatment sessions will I require?
A series of 6 treatments over an interval of 4-6 weeks is usually recommended. However, each patient is unique and a consultation with one of our doctors is necessary prior to treatment.
What Is PicoSure Used For?
Some common uses of PicoSure laser include:
- Skin rejuvenation: PicoSure lasers can be used to stimulate collagen production, which reduces the appearance of fine lines, enlarged pores and other signs of aging. It gives the skin a more youthful glow and brings about a noticeable change in the texture and softness.
- Hyperpigmentation treatment: PicoSure lasers can be used to break up areas of pigmentation on the skin, such as freckles, age spots and melasma.
- Tattoo removal: PicoSure lasers are shown to be effective at removing tattoos of all colors, including difficult-to-remove ink like green and blue.
- Acne treatment: It can be used to target and destroy the bacteria that causes acne, as well as reduce the appearance of acne scars.
What can I expect during a PicoSure treatment?
The PicoSure laser works by firing laser beams with extremely short pulse durations at the skin. Patients will experience a mild pricking sensation during the treatment which is usually well tolerated. A topical numbing cream will be applied prior to the treatment to reduce any discomfort.
The entire treatment should take around 45 minutes including numbing.
What can I expect after PicoSure treatment?
Most people may experience some skin redness for about 1-2 days. For certain conditions such as solar lentigos or freckles, a thin scab may form over the treated area. This should flake off over the next few days.

PicoSure treatment is well-suited for individuals seeking to diminish skin discoloration, fine lines, dark pigmentation, or acne scars without enduring extended recovery periods and the discomfort often associated with conventional laser procedures.
