1. Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI)
40% of women suffer from urinary incontinence and don’t often talk about it. Urinary incontinence is not just for the old, it is actually a common concern for females that often goes undiagnosed due to the stigma associated with it.
Stress Urinary Incontinence is a type of incontinence that results from increased pressure within the abdomen. It is a common and embarrassing female problem that causes involuntary urine leakage when they cough, sneeze or laugh. This involuntary leaking of urine may also occur during physical activities like exercising. For the gym goers, they may find themselves leaking whenever they exert themselves or carry weights.
Stress incontinence occurs due to the weakening and laxity of muscles and connective tissues controlling “continence”, that controls our flow of urine. It is caused by the weakening of the pelvic floor muscles mainly contributed to by childbirth, ageing and obesity.
