Collagen declines with age
Collagen keeps skin smooth and supported. As production slows with age and close to 1% of the body's collagen is lost each year, lines, folds and hollows become more visible.
Collagen biostimulator · Singapore
A poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) injectable that stimulates new collagen, gradually restoring facial fullness and softening wrinkles, folds and hollows for a naturally youthful look.
Volume that builds gradually, from your own collagen.
A collagen biostimulator injectable is a filler made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) that stimulates your body to produce new collagen. By rebuilding and reinforcing the skin's structural foundation, it helps correct facial volume lost to ageing, gradually and subtly.
Collagen is a key structural component of smooth, healthy-looking skin. With ageing, the body's collagen production decreases, and you start losing close to 1% of your collagen each year. Fine lines, wrinkles and loss of facial volume follow, leaving skin loose and saggy, and folds at the cheeks, laugh lines and corners of the mouth become more prominent.
PLLA is a biocompatible, bioabsorbable synthetic polymer that the body absorbs over time. It works by stimulating fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen, to create new collagen fibres. Because it rebuilds the underlying infrastructure of the face, the new collagen layer left behind after the product is absorbed may last more than 2 years, depending on the individual.
How it works
PLLA is injected where volume has been lost. It stimulates fibroblasts, the skin's collagen-making cells, to form new collagen fibres. As the PLLA is absorbed, the new collagen remains and reinforces the skin's structure, so fullness returns gradually and subtly over a course of treatment.

PLLA stimulates new collagen
Injected PLLA stimulates fibroblasts to create new collagen fibres. The change happens gradually and subtly, as the new collagen begins to take effect.

Rebuilding the structural foundation
By rebuilding and reinforcing the skin's structural foundation, the treatment gradually restores the fullness of the facial contour and reduces wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles and eye bags.

PLLA is absorbed, collagen remains
PLLA is bioabsorbable: the body gradually clears the product, while the new collagen it prompted stays to support the skin.
Personalised assessment
Collagen biostimulator injectable addresses volume loss and laxity across the face and neck. Our doctors assess where support has been lost before planning where to place it.

Your treatment journey
Your doctor assesses volume loss and skin laxity, and tailors the number of sessions (usually at least 2–3) to your skin and the outcome you want.
A topical numbing cream is applied, then the PLLA is injected; it also contains local anaesthetic. Each session takes 30–45 minutes, depending on the area treated.
Massage the treated areas as advised, 3 times a day for 5 minutes, for 5 days. Until any swelling or redness settles, avoid the sun, UV lamps and other facial procedures.
Sessions are 4–6 weeks apart, so new collagen has time to form before the next one. Fullness returns gradually over the course.
Safety & expectations
Collagen builds gradually, so results are planned over a course rather than a single visit.
Swelling, redness and bruising are common for a few days. Less commonly, small lumps (nodules) can form under the skin, and very rarely an injection can block a blood vessel. Seek urgent care for severe pain, pale or mottled skin, or any change in vision.
The poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) in a collagen biostimulator is absorbed by the body over time, but the new collagen layer it leaves behind may last more than 2 years, depending on the individual. The result comes from your own new collagen rather than the product itself, which is why it develops gradually and is planned over a course of sessions.
Depending on the area treated, you will usually need at least 2–3 collagen biostimulator sessions, 4–6 weeks apart. The collagen builds gradually between sessions, so the result develops over the course. Our doctors will tailor the number of sessions to suit your skin and the outcome you want.
Downtime is minimal, and you can resume normal daily activities straight away. Massage the treated areas with a firm circular motion 3 times a day, for 5 minutes each time, for the next 5 days. Avoid sun exposure, UV lamps and other facial procedures, such as laser treatments or chemical peels, until any swelling or redness has completely resolved.
As with any injectable, mild to moderate swelling, redness and bruising can occur at the injection sites immediately after a collagen biostimulator treatment. These generally resolve within 2 to 6 days, and cold compresses or ice packs can improve comfort. Less commonly, small lumps (nodules) can form under the skin. Discuss any concerns with your doctor before treatment.
A collagen biostimulator is a type of filler, but it works differently from hyaluronic acid (HA) gels. Instead of adding volume straight away, the PLLA stimulates your skin to make new collagen, so fullness returns gradually and subtly. Unlike HA fillers, PLLA cannot be dissolved with an enzyme, which is why careful planning and staged sessions matter. It also differs from our PDLLA skin booster, which pairs PDLLA with hyaluronic acid.
Yes. A collagen biostimulator can work alongside other treatments to enhance results and address different concerns at the same time. It is often used with dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle injections and laser treatments. Your doctor will suggest a combination that suits your face and goals.
A collagen biostimulator treatment takes 30–45 minutes, depending on the area being treated. A topical numbing cream is applied first to minimise discomfort, and the poly-L-lactic acid filler also contains a local anaesthetic for comfort during the injections. Your doctor will explain the plan for each area before starting.
Results from a collagen biostimulator appear gradually and subtly as new collagen forms and begins to take effect, rather than all at once. Any fullness immediately after treatment is partly swelling, which settles within days. Over the course of sessions, the treatment gradually restores the fullness of your facial contour and softens wrinkles and fine lines.
