Laser resurfacing · Singapore

Micro Laser Resurfacing for acne, scars and smoother skin.

Two complementary wavelengths — Nd:YAG heating below the surface and Er:YAG resurfacing on top — to treat active acne, soften acne scars and refine texture and tone.

What is micro laser resurfacing?

Two wavelengths: refresh the surface, warm the depth.

Micro laser resurfacing is a non-invasive laser treatment that removes dead skin cells from the superficial skin layer while heating the deeper tissue. It combines two complementary wavelengths to improve texture and tone, reduce signs of ageing, and treat active acne, acne scars and wrinkles.

With age, collagen production is reduced, the skin begins to lose moisture and signs of ageing begin to show. Resurfacing aims to improve texture, minimise enlarged pores, even out skin tone, reduce acne scarring and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

By combining the two wavelengths in a treatment sequence, it can resurface the epidermis and remodel the dermis in one session or in staged sessions — treating both the visible surface and the structural causes beneath.

  • Two wavelengths — Nd:YAG heating plus Er:YAG resurfacing
  • Surface and depth — resurfaces the epidermis, remodels the dermis
  • Controlled downtime — 1–3 days of mild redness after light resurfacing
  • Tailored settings — depth set to your skin type and scars

How it works

How does micro laser resurfacing work?

Two wavelengths work in sequence. Nd:YAG delivers deeper, non-ablative heat to stimulate collagen, reduce inflammation and prepare the skin. Er:YAG then precisely ablates a shallow layer of dead skin cells, so new, tighter and healthier tissue is revealed as the skin renews. Settings are tailored to you.

Nd:YAG — deeper, non-ablative heating

Heats the deeper skin without removing the surface, to stimulate collagen, reduce inflammation and prep the skin for resurfacing. Targeted Nd:YAG energy can also reduce inflammatory acne lesions and decrease the sebaceous gland activity that contributes to breakouts.

Who it may suit

Who is micro laser resurfacing for?

It is used for active acne, acne scarring and uneven texture or tone. We begin with a detailed consultation to assess your skin's needs and decide whether it — alone or combined with other treatments — suits you.

Taking isotretinoin, prone to cold sores or recently tanned? Tell your doctor first.

  • Active inflammatory acne

For adults whose acne has not responded fully to standard topical or oral therapies. Targeted Nd:YAG energy can reduce inflammatory lesions and sebaceous gland activity.

  • Mild to moderate acne scars

Er:YAG fractional resurfacing and Nd:YAG dermal stimulation can soften rolling and shallow boxcar scars. Deep icepick scars usually need other techniques, such as punch methods, which your doctor can discuss or refer you for, and tethered rolling scars may need subcision, which we offer: see acne scar treatment.

  • Texture, tone & fine lines

For people wanting skin resurfacing with controlled downtime to improve texture, enlarged pores, skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Smoother, tighter skin

Collagen remodelling from deeper heating can improve tone and texture, with changes often visible gradually over 2–6 months.

Your treatment journey

Detailed consultation. Tailored depth. Planned recovery.

  1. Consult

A detailed consultation to assess your skin's needs, acne or scar type and medical history, and to decide on suitable treatment options for you.

  2. Prepare

A topical anaesthetic is applied before treatment, and your eyes are protected while the laser is in use.

  3. Treat

Nd:YAG and Er:YAG are used in sequence at settings tailored to your skin. You may feel anything from mild warmth to brief stinging.

  4. Recover

Expect 1–3 days of mild redness after light resurfacing, or around 1 week of healing after deeper sessions. Follow your aftercare and protect your skin from the sun.

Safety & expectations

Depth is tailored to you — our doctors set the intensity after assessing your skin and scars.

Redness, temporary swelling and crusting can follow deeper sessions. Tell your doctor about acne medicines such as isotretinoin, cold sores, recent tanning and other skin treatments, and protect your skin from the sun as it heals.

Micro Laser Resurfacing: frequently asked questions

What is micro laser resurfacing?

Micro laser resurfacing is a laser treatment for active acne, acne scars, uneven texture and tone, and fine lines. It uses two wavelengths in sequence: Nd:YAG warms the deeper skin to stimulate collagen and calm inflammation, and Er:YAG precisely ablates a thin layer of dead skin cells from the surface. Settings are tailored to your skin.

Is laser resurfacing painful?

Most patients tolerate micro laser resurfacing with a topical anaesthetic. Sensations range from mild warmth to brief stinging, depending on the treatment protocol. Your doctor will explain what to expect for the depth planned for your skin.

How much downtime is there after laser resurfacing, and what are the side effects?

Some downtime is expected, depending on the protocol. Light micro laser resurfacing may cause 1–3 days of mild redness. Deeper ablative sessions may need around 1 week to heal, with redness, temporary swelling and crusting, all of which can be mitigated with proper post-treatment care. Less commonly, the skin can darken temporarily, so sun protection matters while it heals.

How many micro laser resurfacing sessions will I need?

For acne control and scar improvement, expect a course of multiple micro laser resurfacing sessions spaced several weeks apart. Our doctors will propose a personalised plan after assessing your skin, your scars and the downtime you can manage.

Can laser resurfacing treat deep acne scars?

Micro laser resurfacing is used for mild to moderate acne scarring: Er:YAG fractional resurfacing and Nd:YAG dermal stimulation can soften rolling and shallow boxcar scars and improve overall skin evenness. Deep icepick scars usually need other techniques, such as punch methods, which your doctor can discuss or refer you for, and tethered rolling scars may need subcision, which we offer, so your doctor assesses your scar types first.

Can micro laser resurfacing help active acne?

Yes. Targeted Nd:YAG energy can reduce inflammatory lesions and decrease the sebaceous gland activity that contributes to breakouts. Micro laser resurfacing may suit adults with active inflammatory acne who have not responded fully to standard topical or oral therapies.

Can micro laser resurfacing be combined with other treatments?

Yes. Micro laser resurfacing can be combined with other aesthetic treatments such as skin boosters or subcision, as part of a personalised plan. Speak with our doctors for a personalised plan — we begin with a detailed consultation to assess your skin's needs and determine suitable treatment options for you.

When will I see results from laser resurfacing?

Collagen remodelling from the deeper heating improves tone and texture gradually, often becoming visible over 2–6 months. The aim is a fresh layer of skin that looks and feels tighter, with softer-looking fine lines, a more balanced tone and smoother texture. Results vary from person to person.
