PicoSure pico laser · Singapore

PICO Laser for pigmentation, acne scars and tattoos.

PicoSure fires ultrashort 755 nm pulses with low heat output — breaking up pigment and stimulating collagen, with minimal effect on the surrounding skin.

What is PICO Laser?

Picosecond pulses with low heat, for pigment, scars and tattoos.

PICO Laser at Fusion Medical is PicoSure, a 755 nm Alexandrite laser that fires ultrashort pulses measured in picoseconds. Its low heat output and swift pulsing break up pigment and stimulate collagen and elastin, with minimal effect on surrounding skin — for hyperpigmentation, acne scars, tattoos and skin rejuvenation.

The swift pulsing generates a photomechanical effect, so more laser shots can be delivered to the dermal layer to stimulate collagen and elastin production with increased precision. Because adjacent skin tissue is minimally affected, the recovery period is shorter.

For skin rejuvenation, PicoSure's patented Focus Lens Array uses a diffractive lens to concentrate energy into multiple minuscule points. This creates micro-injuries within the epidermis that promote new collagen and elastin, helping to enhance outcomes for pigmentation, skin texture and acne scars.

  • 755 nm picosecond — Alexandrite laser pulses with low heat output
  • Focus Lens Array — energy concentrated into minuscule points
  • About 45 minutes — per session, including numbing time
  • Doctor-led — a consultation comes before any treatment

How it works

How does PICO Laser work?

PicoSure delivers a 755 nm Alexandrite laser in pulses lasting picoseconds. The swift pulsing and low heat output create a photomechanical effect that breaks up pigment, while energy reaching the dermis stimulates collagen and elastin. Adjacent tissue is minimally affected, which shortens recovery.

Ultrashort pulses, low heat

PicoSure fires laser beams with extremely short pulse durations. Its low heat output, combined with the swift pulsing, generates a photomechanical effect — delivering more laser shots to the dermal layer with minimal effect on the adjacent skin.

Personalised assessment

What can PICO Laser treat?

PicoSure is used for pigmentation, signs of ageing, acne and acne scars, and tattoos. Our doctor assesses your skin and concerns first to confirm it is right for you.

Recent tan, pregnancy or past scarring or pigment change? Tell your doctor first.

  • Pigmentation & melasma

Breaks up areas of pigmentation such as freckles, age spots and melasma.

  • Skin rejuvenation

Stimulates collagen to reduce the appearance of fine lines, enlarged pores and other signs of ageing, and can give skin a more youthful glow with smoother, softer texture.

  • Acne & acne scars

Can be used to target the bacteria that cause acne, and to reduce the appearance of acne scars.

  • Tattoo removal

Used on tattoos of all colours, including green and blue inks that are harder to remove.

Before treatment A topical numbing cream is applied to reduce any discomfort. A consultation with one of our doctors is needed before your first session.
During treatment A mild pricking sensation, which is usually well tolerated. Protective eyewear is worn while the laser is in use.
Treatment time Around 45 minutes, including numbing. Laser pulses are extremely short, measured in picoseconds.
After treatment Some skin redness for about 1–2 days. Freckles or solar lentigos may form a thin scab that flakes off over the next few days.
Course A series of 6 treatments, 4–6 weeks apart, is usually recommended. Each patient is unique, so your doctor confirms the plan for your skin.

Your treatment journey

Skin assessment. Numbing. Laser. A planned series.

  1. Consult

Our doctor assesses your skin and concerns to decide whether PICO Laser suits you and what to expect.

  2. Prepare

A topical numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort, and protective eyewear is fitted.

  3. Treat

The laser pulses feel like a mild pricking sensation that is usually well tolerated. The visit takes around 45 minutes including numbing.

  4. Recover

Redness usually settles in 1–2 days, and treated freckles or solar lentigos may scab and flake. Protect your skin from the sun. Sessions are usually 4–6 weeks apart.

Safety & expectations

Suitability comes first — your doctor assesses your skin before any laser session.

Before treatment, tell your doctor about recent sun exposure or a tan, pregnancy, medicines, skin conditions and any past scarring or pigment change. Protect your skin from the sun between sessions.

PICO Laser: frequently asked questions

What is pico laser?

Pico laser is a laser that fires ultrashort pulses measured in picoseconds (trillionths of a second). At Fusion Medical, PICO Laser treatment uses PicoSure, a 755 nm Alexandrite picosecond laser. It is used for pigmentation such as freckles, age spots and melasma, for acne and acne scars, for tattoos and for skin rejuvenation.

Is there downtime after pico laser treatment?

Recovery is usually short. Most people have some skin redness for about 1–2 days after PICO Laser. For certain conditions such as solar lentigos or freckles, a thin scab may form over the treated area; this should flake off over the next few days. Protect your skin from the sun while it recovers.

What are the side effects of PicoSure laser?

Side effects of PicoSure are usually temporary. Besides short-lived redness, and scabbing over treated freckles or solar lentigos, some people notice swelling or tenderness. Less commonly, the skin can become darker or lighter in patches, which is why your doctor checks your skin type, recent sun exposure and concern before treatment.

How many PICO Laser sessions will I need?

A series of 6 PICO Laser treatments at intervals of 4–6 weeks is usually recommended. However, each patient is unique, so a consultation with one of our doctors is needed before treatment to confirm the plan for your skin and concern.

Can pico laser treat hyperpigmentation and melasma?

Yes. PicoSure can break up areas of pigmentation such as freckles, age spots and melasma, and its Focus Lens Array helps to enhance outcomes for pigmentation. Not all pigmentation is the same, so the doctor assesses yours first. Melasma can recur, so sun protection and ongoing care are part of the plan.

Does PICO Laser treatment hurt?

Most people feel a mild pricking sensation that is usually well tolerated. A topical numbing cream is applied before PICO Laser to reduce any discomfort, and the whole session takes around 45 minutes including numbing.

Am I a suitable candidate for PicoSure?

PicoSure is well suited to people who want to diminish skin discolouration, fine lines, dark pigmentation or acne scars without an extended recovery period. We still recommend speaking with our doctor first, who will assess your skin, concerns and medical history before recommending treatment.

What results can I expect from pico laser?

Results vary from person to person. Over a series of sessions, PicoSure aims to break up pigmentation, stimulate collagen and elastin, and improve skin texture and softness. Changes build gradually rather than all at once, and your doctor will explain what is realistic for your skin at consultation.
