Visa medical check-ups for work, study or life abroad

Examination, chest X-ray and blood tests at Wheelock Place, completed on your destination's own form. Send us the official instructions first: some countries accept only their own approved doctors.

What is a visa medical check-up?

The destination writes the checklist; we complete it as written.

A visa medical check-up is the health examination another country asks for before it grants a work, study, family or residence visa. Requirements differ by country, visa type, age and length of stay. Some need only a doctor's form; others add a chest X-ray, blood or urine tests, vaccination records or a sealed report.

Some countries, or some visa types, accept only their own approved panel doctors, so check the official instructions before you book. Where a Singapore-registered doctor is accepted, we can complete the destination's form here.

The X-ray room and blood taking are on site, so the examination and tests can be done in one visit.

  • Destination-led — the official checklist decides the tests
  • One visit — examination, X-ray and blood tests on site
  • Time-limited — reports often have a submission window
  • Format matters — sealed, uploaded or handed over as instructed

What may be asked

What does a visa medical include?

It depends on the destination and the visa, so start with the official checklist. Most ask for a doctor's examination on their own form. Many add a chest X-ray or blood and urine tests, and some want vaccination records or a sealed report. A test accepted by one country may not be accepted by another.

What to bring

Printed documents with a fountain pen and reading glasses on a desk

Examination on the official form

Your medical history, measurements and a physical examination, recorded on the destination's own template and signed by the doctor. Use the current version of the form, in the language the destination asks for.

Vaccine vials and a syringe on a clinic tray

A desk calendar with a date circled in pencil

Is this the right page?

Which medical are you preparing for?

This page is for visas to other countries. Medicals for passes to work, study or live in Singapore have their own pages.

Check the official embassy or immigration page close to your appointment. Requirements change.

Questions

The official checklist decides what you need. The destination decides your visa.

Tell us your deadline and whether the report must stay sealed. Bring your original passport and every page of the form.

Other Countries Visa Check-Ups: frequently asked questions

Which countries' visa medicals can you do?

It depends on the destination's requirements and your visa type. We complete visa medicals for destinations that accept a Singapore-registered doctor, but some countries, or some visa types, accept only their own approved panel doctors. Send us the current official instructions when you enquire, and we'll confirm whether we can complete your medical.

What tests will I need for a visa medical?

It depends on the destination and the visa class. Most ask for a doctor's examination on their own form. Many add a chest X-ray or blood and urine tests, and some ask for vaccination records or specialist reports. Follow the official checklist for your visa, not what someone else needed for the same country.

Do I need to fast for a visa medical?

Only some tests need fasting. Send us the official checklist when you book, and we'll tell you whether to fast and how to prepare for any X-ray or urine test.

How long is a visa medical valid?

It differs by country and visa type, so check the official submission window before you book. Too early, and the report may expire before you submit it; too late, and there may be no time for a repeat test or extra review if a result needs one.

Can I open a sealed medical report?

No, not unless the authority says you may. Some applications reject a report if its sealed envelope has been opened. If you would like a copy for your own records, ask us whether the instructions allow one.

Does passing the medical mean my visa will be approved?

No. We carry out the examination and complete the report; the destination's authority decides whether to accept the medical evidence and grant the visa. If a result needs follow-up, the doctor explains it and what may be needed next.

Do I need my original passport?

Yes. The doctor checks your identity against your original passport, and your name, passport number and date of birth must match on every page of the report and on any samples. Also bring the photographs, reference number and supporting documents your checklist lists.
